I've lost...but not given up!

Okay-

So, I know that two weeks ago I declared that I was going to update everyone on my progress...you know, for NaNoWriMo. And, I know that last week I totally didn't.

1. I was sick
2. My kids were sick
3. I honestly just plain old forgot

But, I remembered today. I know, I know. Hold your excitement in.

I started out great. Writing everyday and actually hitting my word count goal. However, Sandy hit. And, we lost power for a while. And, then I get sick. Which means, I was really tired.

But, I still wrote. I just didn't meet my word count. But, I'm okay with that. My reason for participating in NaNo is to help me get into more of a routine of writing everyday. Also, truth be told, I love watching the little graph/word count bar thingy go up. It helps motivate me.

As much as I would love to "win," I know that it isn't possible with my crazy life right now...aka 4 little ones. So my own personal goal is to reach 20k.

Stats:
Word count: 13,161
Pages: 53
Chapters: 8

How is everyone else doing (NaNo or no) on your projects?

Strangely enough, that little graph motivates me too - so even though I'm not "really" doing NaNo, I like inputting the numbers on my current novel so that I can see the progress I'm making. I'm getting SOOOO close to the end. I'm 44k in. Woot!

Sorry you got sick :( I hope you're feeling better now.

Kelly, I was sick before, during and after Superstorm Sandy (that's why I had to skip Frankie's YA Panel), so I sympathize! And you know I always tell you I don't know how you handle anything with 4 little ones. I'm not sure I could even get a decent dinner on the table with 4 kids wanting my attention. Hope you feel better soon. 20K is an accomplishment in itself. So go for it!

I'm not doing NaNo, but I just finished revising my second MG novel, so yeah, I accomplished something during this never-ending sinus infection. I'm also participating in Tara Lazar's PiBoIdMo, and I've had no trouble coming up with ideas. Even being sick can trigger picture book possibilities.

I hope everyone is feeling better. 20K is a great goal. Any time you write is something to celebrate.
Hope all is well.
